Christmas Island, the Indian Ocean, connected to Australia. It is located approximately 360 km south of the island of Cava, 1,400 km northwest of Australia. The highest point of Christmas Island, the peak of a mountain rising from the ocean floor, is the Murry Hill in the west (361 m). The main settlement on the island and the harbor is Flying Fish Cove on the northeast coast. The island should not be confused with the Christmas Island (Kiritimati), which is on the line of history change and which takes the first lights of the day in the world. There is a town, two villages, Flying Fish Cove, South Point and Drumline. There is also a golf course and casino.
