CANDU (CANada Deuterium-Uranium reactor) is a Canadian nuclear power plant that was operated in the 1960s with pressurized heavy water. CANDU rhetoric, CANada Deuterium Uranium is the abbreviation of the initials of the words of the expression. The first CANDU type reactor was installed between 1962 and 1987 and became Canada's first nuclear power plant. This type of reactor is used in Canada, India, South Korea, China, Argentina, Romania and Pakistan.
