Genoa is now the capital of the province of Genoa and the capital of the Ligurian Region, a city in the Ligurian region of Italy. It should not be confused with the city of Geneva, Switzerland. A large part of the old historical center of Genoa, consisting of "Le Strade Nuove" and "Palazzi dei Rolli" (The Palaces of the Rollies), has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2006. The city of Genoa is very rich in art, music, gastronomy. The city became the European Capital of Culture for 2004 due to its architects and historical features.
